My name is Trey Henninger and I am an engineer, private investor, and business owner. Growing up, I always had an interest in finding out how things worked, and over time was naturally drawn to the idea of making money. I found it incredibly interesting that you could do so many things just by handing someone dollar bills. You could have food made for you, buy nice things, and even travel around the world. Thus, early on I decided that I wanted to be rich some day. I came up with some of the most outrageous money goals that many people, including myself at times, would consider impossible to achieve. At the end of the day, this led me to the world of investing.
As I began to learn about investing, I found out that it was something which really just clicked with me. I found it very interesting to read about companies, and learn how they operated, and what they did to make money. I learned that it was fun for me to read a company’s annual report and run the numbers on how profitable they are. It was around this time that I realized very few people agreed with me that investing could be fun. Many people that I knew and would meet thought that the things that I would do for fun, were incredibly boring to them.
I also noticed a different phenomenon. Very few people actually knew anything about investing. Most of my peers, didn’t understand that you could spend money to buy a share of a company like Coca-Cola and then receive a portion of the profits for every can of Coke that was sold, in the form of a dividend. Most people I would run into think the stock market is a physical entity which you can purchase and which randomly increases in value over time. Most people never bother to think of investing as anything other than a way to fund retirement and consequently don’t bother to even learn about it until they get older in life.
It was the combination of all these things which has led me to begin this blog. I hope to share my knowledge and understanding of how to invest, and to invest on your own, without the aid of a financial adviser. I want to empower you, and to help you unlock the potential future earnings which would go to waste if you ignore investing any longer. I taught myself how to invest and now I hope to help teach you how to invest. I am not a world renowned investor and I haven’t yet become rich off of investing. However, I have spent thousands of hours reading, learning and teaching myself how to invest. I hope you’ll join me on my own journey of becoming the best investors we can.
